Following the array of platform (Somnium Space) specific avatars created, Chametheon was born to connect all future interoperable metaverse assets. The Chametheon avatars were the first items to be released.
Released in batches, 88 Chametheons were created in total all sharing the same base mesh.
Each was made unique with individual skins and other characteristics.
Primarily focused on VR the aim was to create friendly characters each with their own personality and charm.
Harnessing the Somnium Space Platform, gesture based animations were used, triggered from within VR via various hand signals.
Beutiful animated, emmisive skins were created via custom shaders, also triggered by gestures in VR.
Armoured versions of the CHametheons were crafted taking the final collection count to 300.
Armour designs have patterns and colours matching the original 88 Chametheons.
Some Armoured CHametheons have Armoured that doesn't match the wearers skins.
Following the original Chamethoen collection, clothing items were created.
Individual clothing items were made to be purchased to create distinctive and unique looks.
Special items were created and given out to Chametheon owners.
The clothed Chametheons were the beginning of the transition to .vrm format. Many technical challenges needed to become to create the final avatars were 10MB, 10k triangles and 1 material. All clothed Chametheons formed a new collection named 'Chametheon Lab'.
To add further diversity to the Chametheon Lab collection, new hybrids were created.
Using eight skin pattern designs and multiple colour variations the HX1 avatars are a vibrant collection.
Chametheons were built with utility in mind. As well as social experiences, games were top of the agenda so the Chametheon Lab was created in Somnium Space to serve as a hub for games and competitions.

The Chametheons needed a weapon for the Lab shooting game so the enforcer was created.
The Shredder was created for future games requiring an automatic weapon.
Experiments began in Unity to exploring other gaming possibilities. This work is ongoing.
Chametheons have been adopted by other projects such as Yauga, a well being and technology company.
